The Hill View Manor opened its doors in 1926 as the Lawrence County Home.  It was the most modern poor farm at the time.  This home featured separate living quarters for men and women, a bomb shelter, a cemetery, a kitchen, a laundry, a hospital, and a section for officers and employees.  In 2004 the county was forced to shut down the home due to financial strain.  In the many years of its operation, it was home to thousands of poor, sick, and mentally ill.  Some of which are believed to still take residence there.
